Sandwiches are a lunch time staple for everyone in the family! Nothing could be worse than opening your lunch when your tummy is rumbling, to find a soggy sandwich at the bottom of your bag…
Here are our 4 top tips to stop those sandwiches from going soggy…
1.Choose the right bread
Thicker breads like ciabatta, sourdough, or baguettes are less likely to become soggy than regular slices. Lightly toasting the bread before assembling your sandwich can also help to reduce any potential sogginess.
2.Layering the ingredients
Always start with your dry ingredients first like lettuce, cheese or cured meats like ham. This helps to create a barrier between the wet ingredients you might add to the sandwich. If you're adding wet ingredients like tomatoes, pickles or condiments to your sandwich, add them in the middle, away from the bread.
3.Pack condiments separately
Citron has a range of sauce pots you can add into your lunch bag or box. Add sauces like mayo or BBQ sauce to these pots, and spread onto your sandwich when you’re ready to eat it. This will prevent the bread from soaking up the moisture before lunch time. Citron also has a range of portable cutlery sets you can add to your bag, which include knives for spreading your condiments with.
4.Store the sandwiches properly
At Citron we have a range of different lunch boxes and sandwich bags which will help to keep your sandwiches fresh.
