Spooky monster lunch box recipe

The leaves are turning orange and are falling from the trees, the air is turning crisp and the nights are getting darker - it can only mean one thing, spooky season has arrived! So gather your cauldron (aka your Citron grand lunch box) and fill it with our Halloween inspired recipes. 

Eyeball pasta

Halloween pasta

Ingredients

    • 1 portion of pasta
    • 25g pine nuts
    • 40g basil
    • 25g parmesan cheese
    • 75ml olive oil
    • 1 garlic clove
    • 2 mini mozzarella balls
    • 1 olive

Method

    1. Cook your spaghetti per instructions on the packet.
    2. For the sauce, add the pine nuts to a frying pan, make sure you stir them constantly to avoid burning.
    3. Next add your basil, parmesan, olive oil, garlic clove and pine nuts to a blender and blitz until smooth.
    4. Once your pasta is cooked, add your pasta to the sauce, and into your small food jar.
    5. To make the eyes, add mozzarella balls to the pasta and cut your olive into small slices and add to the mozzarella.

Ghost bananas

Ingredients

    • 1 banana
    • Chocolate chips

Method

    1. Cut your banana in half from one tip of the banana to the other.
    2. Then cut your banana in half and make a zig-zag cut on the bottom of the banana.
    3. Add chocolate chips onto the banana for the eyes.

Hot dog fingers

Ingredients

    • 3 cooked sausages
    • 1 slice of ham
    • Ketchup

Method

    • Get 3 cooked sausages and cut out a fingernail shape to the tip of the sausage.
    • Next grab a slice of ham and cut out nail-shaped slices out of the ham and add to the sausages so they look like nails on fingers.
    • You can add ketchup to your sauce pot.

Grape eyeballs

Healthy Halloween snacks

Ingredients

    • A handful of grapes
    • Chocolate chips

Method

    1. Simply cut your grapes in half.
    2. Add chocolate chips to the centre of the cut grape so they look like eyeballs.
